A 2026 study that looked at the possible influence of the weather on college admissions applications found that if students experience poor weather conditions while touring a campus they’re considering applying to, they’ll be less likely to apply compared to those who tour the campus while the weather is pleasant.

The difference between these two groups was substantial: those who toured during bad weather were 10% less likely to apply when the weather was excessively hot, compared to those who toured during pleasant weather, while those who toured during rainy conditions were 8% less likely to apply compared to the same.
