Video Games and Well-Being
While a fair bit of research suggests that persistent, daily exposure to screens (and the content on those screens) might be psychologically deleterious (in a variety of ways) for children and teens, a recent study conducted in Japan found that video gaming might actually have a positive impact on adolescents in some cases.
The study was conducted between 2020 and 2022, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic—so there’s a chance that’s a confounding factor, here—and because it was only conducted in Japan, it’s likely some of the findings wouldn’t translate to other countries and cultures.
