Does a plant think?

There’s evidence that they communicate and even cognate, if in a minimal sense of the word.

Are plants conscious?

That’s another question entirely, according to some theorists in this space, at least.

These questions are arguably important, though, as the conscious or unconscious nature of different creatures is increasingly being used as a metric for how they should be treated (as is the case with octopuses and whether it’s legal to farm them for meat).
