Prosocial Kindness

A recent study (published in 2025, but conducted in 2020) found that while acts of self-kindness (doing nice things for oneself) resulted in significant decreases in depression (compared to the control group), those who engaged in prosocial, “other-kindness” (doing nice things for others) experienced significant drops in depression, anxiety, and loneliness (also compared to the control group).
