Noble Cause Corruption

In ethics, Noble Cause Corruption refers to the tendency of people who have power to wield that power in unethical ways in order to—in their mind at least—achieve ethical goals. A fictional, archetypical example of this might be the vigilante justice divvied out by comic book protagonists like Batman: he violates the law by illegally (and often violently) meting out what he considers to be justice to those who might otherwise not face it through other means.
