Neural Similarity
“Neural synchrony” refers to the syncing of the activity in multiple brains, usually when they’re exposed to similar stimuli.
So people who are participating in a drum circle may see their brain activity (and other biological markers) begin to sync, and two strangers quietly viewing the same painting may experience the same.
Such synchrony is thought to be the basis for many human rituals and interpersonal dynamics, as this sort of alignment seems to create the right conditions for building positive relationships (stimulating a sense of belonging, of care for others, of being part of a larger “us” with the folks we’re synching with, etc).
